Lure of the South Pacific

For over four decades the Lure of the South Pacific Entertainers have provided authentic Polynesian entertainment in Australia, Japan, Ports of Paradise (South Pacific Islands), all over the United States and especially in California.  Mrs. Sarah & Mr. Al Kemoeatu Fakalata (Owners of the Lure of the South Pacific Entertainers) bring to their audiences the hospitality, traditions and cultures of Polynesia.

The Lure of the South Pacific Entertainers is operated by Kemoeatu ‘i ‘Oneata Fakalata, also known as ‘Alipate (Albert) Fakalata. He was born in Neiafu, Vava’u, Tonga Islands. While growing up he learned the customs, traditions, culture, music and dances from one of Tonga’s greatest composers (punake), his uncle Talo Lakepa Fulivai, who lived during the reign of Her Majesty Queen Salote Tupou lll (the greatest poet and composer of the Kingdom of Tonga).  ‘Alipate left Tonga to the Hawaiian Islands for further education. It was there at the Polynesian Cultural Center where he learned and performed the dances, cultures, customs, traditions, dances and music of Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia.  He also had the opportunity to perform for the great Talking Chief of Samoa, Chief Galea’i and the famous Samoan Composer Solo’atoa. 

Mr. Alipate Fakalata is proud of his heritage and his island music. He can play any musical instrument, but his favorite musical instrument, which he plays well, is the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. His idol is the famous Hawaiian Steel Guitarist “David Keli’i”.
